About

Origins.coop launched in 2023 as a cooperative venture between the Wanakaset Symbiosis Network and Terra Genesis to provide catalytic capital and develop infrastructure to support smallholder rubber farmers to transition to regenerative agriculture, establish data collection networks and access equitable markets for regenerative agriculture goods and outcome data.

We believe in the power and potential of the cooperative movement and are guided by the seven principles of cooperativism:

  1. Voluntary and Open Membership – Cooperatives are voluntary organizations, open to all people able to use their services and willing to accept the responsibilities of membership
  2. Democratic Member Control – Cooperatives are democratic organizations controlled by their members
  3. Member Economic Participation – Members democratically control the capital of the coop and benefit in proportion to the business they conduct with it
  4. Autonomy and Independence – Cooperatives are autonomous, self-help organizations controlled by their members
  5. Education, Training and Information – Cooperatives provide education and training for members, representatives, managers and employees
  6. Cooperation among Cooperatives – Cooperatives serve their members and strengthen the coop movement by working together through local, national, regional and international structures
  7. Concern for Community – Cooperatives work for the regenerative development of communities through policies and programs accepted by the members

As a platform cooperative, Origins.coop extends the use of these principles into the digital arena to include novel infrastructure, institutions and instruments for financing and coordinating community led regeneration of landscapes and the sale of diverse agricultural goods.
